Extended Health & Dental Costs Continue to Rise

Employers experienced consistent annual increases in the cost of their extended health benefits and dental plans in 2007 and 2008. However, the average annual cost increases went up in 2009 and will again in 2010. For the current year, the average annual increase in the cost of extended health benefits has reached the 2006 increase of 14.2%. Similarly, the average annual increase in the utilization of dental plans increased for the second year bringing it up to the highest level in the past five years.
